Literary Walk: A Journey Through Kolkata’s Stories and Streets

Our students embarked on a beautiful “Kolkata Classic Poetry Walk” guided by Supriya Newar and Navpreet Arora. The walk took them through some of the city’s most iconic colonial landmarks — the General Post Office (GPO), Writers’ Building, Lal Dighi, Raj Bhavan and St. John’s Church. At each stop, the children discovered fascinating stories about Kolkata’s history and learned how the British first arrived here as traders.

Highlight of the day was Supriya Newar’s soulful readings from her books Justuju and Kalkatta Chronicles, including pieces like Somvaar and Padosi. Her poetry added depth and emotion to the surroundings, making the experience even more memorable for our students.

It was truly an enriching and inspiring day — one that blended literature, history and exploration in the heart of our city.
