Visit to Towards Future: Exploring Community-Based Education

Our team from Ek Tara recently visited Towards Future in Rajarhat, and it was a truly grounding experience. We went there to see how grassroots education actually comes to life outside of a traditional classroom, and we walked away with so much more than just a site visit report.

Exploring their core initiatives like MUKTI, Uttaran, KidzPlanet, and Shishumon, we saw firsthand how they bridge the gap for children who have been left behind by formal schooling. Whether it’s early childhood care or empowering women in the community, their approach is deeply personal and rights-based.

The highlight, however, was simply being in the room. Watching the educators in action and seeing how they’ve thoughtfully adapted their teaching to fit the reality of their students’ lives was incredibly inspiring. It wasn’t just about “implementing programs”—it was about creating a space where the community feels seen, heard, and supported.
