Parenting is hard and with the recent lockdown and outbreak it is proving to be even harder.
Children have to stay home the entire day in a confined space. This can be very difficult because most of them have large families and very little space to share.
No income, confined space, zero personal space can lead to stress, anxiety and child abuse. Keeping these kids engaged and safe is our priority.
Most of our children are first generation learners, which means that their parents have very basic education or none at all.
Hence most parents in the slums find it difficult to teach their kids or follow a set curricula.
So to keep these children engaged we have devised easy tasks and activities which the kids can do at home with very little supervision.
What’s interesting is that, almost all the parents are proactively taking interest in these activities, bonding with their kids and also learning in the process.
Here we have Dad and Mihir of Grade 2 making a comic strip on safe hygiene practices for the Covid-19 outbreak.
