Plastics for Pads
Plastics for Pads?
Yes, you heard that right!
Is that even possible?
In a country, where up to 500 million women and girls are living each month in period poverty, this sounds ridiculous and pretty farfetched.
Doesn’t it?
But on International Women’s Day, our friends at Garbage Free India and Green Pari made it possible for us. We asked our adolescent girls and community women to bring in single use plastics, which they were able to exchange for sanitary pads, all thanks to our friends. This was also followed by a session on myth vs reality related to menstrual health and hygiene practices.
It’s a win for the environment, it’s a win for our girls and it is a definite win for womanhood!
