A Step Towards Healthier Communities: Cervical Cancer Awareness Session

Ek Tara recently organised a Cervical Cancer Awareness Session in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club Calcutta Midtown, bringing together parents for an important discussion on women’s health.

During the session, doctors spoke about menstrual health and hygiene, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD), cervical cancer, and the importance of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. They explained the causes, symptoms, prevention strategies, and common menstrual health concerns in a simple and relatable way, helping families better understand these often overlooked topics.

An important part of the discussion was addressing common myths—such as the belief that cervical cancer affects only older women or that the HPV vaccine is unnecessary. Parents actively participated, asked questions, and shared their concerns, making the session interactive and meaningful.

The programme successfully raised awareness and encouraged families to prioritise menstrual hygiene, healthy lifestyles, and timely vaccination for better health and prevention.
