Exposure Visit: VIHAAN

The Ek Tara team recently visited VIHAAN, a non-profit organisation working across India to create a world free from abuse and exploitation. In Kolkata, VIHAAN focuses on education, skill development, rehabilitation, and creating dignified livelihood opportunities.

During our visit, we had the privilege of attending VIHAAN’s graduation ceremony, where participants from their skill development and after-care programmes were celebrated for completing their training. The event was deeply moving, filled with stories of resilience, growing confidence, and empowerment.

We were especially inspired by VIHAAN’s approach of recognising every individual as an achiever and by their regular alumni meets, which help nurture long-term community support. This visit encouraged us to reflect on our own practices at Ek Tara — from celebrating student milestones to integrating life skills with academics and continuing to use dignity-centred communication in all our work.

We are grateful to the VIHAAN Kolkata team for their warmth, generosity, and inspiration. As we move forward, we look forward to continuing this shared journey towards empowerment and inclusion.
