The Harmony Bridge Program

Our kids just kicked off their first session at the Harmony Bridge program at the American Centre in Kolkata. This initiative is all about promoting cross-cultural understanding and helping underprivileged youth through music education. We’re excited to dive into different American music styles like jazz, blues, country, hip-hop, and classical, which are already making waves in Kolkata. The goal is to not only enhance the musical skills of these young people and their familiarity with American music but also to explore the connections between American and Indian music genres, expand their artistic perspectives, and strengthen ties between the two cultures. The program will roll out in stages, starting with basic training, moving on to intermediate workshops, and wrapping up with advanced sessions. Harmony Bridge aims to select 50 music students and offer them organized training from community music instructors, with one session each month at the American Center in Kolkata. They’ll also get a masterclass with a U.S. musician and quarterly sessions with local musician trainers, totaling 24 training sessions, plus five performances, including a big finale at the American Center.
